Reuf   Reuf   Reuf   RReuff RReuff

Yap yapyap yap yapyap yap yapyap  yap yapyap

Et le petit roquet, soprane hystérique, ajoute

Yipyipyipyipyipyipyipyip Yipyipyipyipyipyipyipyip

Qu’y peut-on.

Wake-up call around 4:20 am, much disturbed by the itching from a rash I fear may be one of the side effects of the bi-monthly injections I’m committed to since two months now; with headaches strong enough to call for a pain-killer; yippy yay.

Before which I had dreamt that an ancient Sage was telling stories from times long gone no one remembered except him, stories he was writing with a finger on the skin of my arm, I was following with my eyes, except that everything was being erased as he wrote. When I woke up, the “finger” was on the spot of a fresh itchy eruption in the crook of my elbow, added to the others…,

But also, a recollection of Friday afternoons in Tel Aviv when the school days ended earlier in anticipation of the beginning of Shabbat in the evening. I would come home from work and find my daughter in front of the telly, deep in a dark melodrama broadcast in Arabic by the Jordanian station. It always involved hyper-dramatic stories — for instance, a noble young man went in search of his mother who had plunged into prostitution (voluntarily or against her will, I cannot say, my command of Arabic being insufficient to make out the circumstances of her Fall), and the noble young man would pull out his mama from the cesspool in which she was wallowing. There was always a music scene with a belly dancer in a seedy bar. (And all this, upon reflection, closely resembles the contents of her psychotic episodes, except that the noble young man is replaced by the wild accusations of a daughter and the mama, a whorish witch with the heart of a Baba Yaga. Sigh.)

All this (including the news) being about par with the following scene I jotted down yesterday prior to Camille’s arrival to work on the latest developments for L’Horloger des Brumes :

Sometimes, the young people who bought the rest of the factory in which is located the circus school show up to work on their installation and, sometimes, they leave their two dogs in the yard which is on a diagonal to mine.

Their presence deeply annoys the big dog two houses over, so he starts protesting in a deep voice

Reuf   Reuf   Reuf   RReuff RReuff

This annoys the two other dogs, so the medium sized one, a tenor, replies

Yap yapyap yap yapyap yap yapyap  yap yapyap

And the little yapper, a hysterical soprano, adds

Yipyipyipyipyipyipyipyip Yipyipyipyipyipyipyipyip

And, after awhile, this annoys me so I go out in my yard and I reply

Reuf Reuf RReuff RReuff and

yap yapyap yap yapyap yap yapyap and

Yipyipyipyipyipyipyipyip Yipyipyipyipyipyipyipyip

at the top of my lungs. Of course, this does not calm them down at all but, it makes me

feel better, telling them them how much they annoy me.

After which I go back inside to pursue my occupations.

Eventually, they shut up.

Onward with the shaping up of L’Horloger des Brumes. Interspersed with showers in very hot water, for (temporary) relief to the itching. I would really like to explain to my metabolism some basic rules of accommodation to newcomers in the inner molecular realm. (Sigh.)

Meanwhile for Gilou’s notebook in the story, his commentary on the Icelandic saga of Ketill the Salmon :

If all was not well for the salmon, it was because of a jump to avoid the hook, a jump that had stuck him up to the chin in the head of a boy (who went by the name of Ketill) henceforth who could no longer make a single sound. What can you do.

PS And then, following these notes, I open emails in which I find a long very long letter in English then trasncribed by AI in French, my daughter addresses “to the family” and a few other people. The deep sadness of this letter to which a reply is impossible, in which is found the “other face” of the denial, just as untouchable as the one of her frenzies. Here her world is filled with liars and with people who want to harm her, but also with kindly policemen and the three persons she still identifies as kind presences in her life. If only, if only there was some way to break through denials, but they can only be dissolved by some inner process.
