“breakfast of champions” –
“In nonsense is strength”? as Vonnegut’s rewrite of the American “In God we trust” In Breakfast of Champions?
Not sure about that. However, the undeniable advantage of former nonsense is the demonstration some sentient beings managed to survive previous carnage, in order to move on to more contemporary versions. Proof that nonsense kills many, but not all. And, for now, that’s about the extent of my optimistic take on humanity’s progress through the ages.
As for my own progress through my ages, I beg to reserve judgment since being both judge, jury, prosecutor and defendant doesn’t lead to much clarity.

No, I won’t move on from here to yet another bit of hyperventilation over the excesses of the Trumps, or Erdogans or Putins or Assads or (throw in a name).
Let me close on the recipe for a…a hamburger offered at one sports stadium in Arizona. It consists of 7 lbs of beef patties, franks, bacon, cheese and chicken nuggets served with fries. Cost: 75$. I think there’s a few slices of tomato and some lettuce thrown in but don’t worry, for that price, I’m sure you can ask to have your burger vegetable-free. Or, alternatively if you’re anxious about getting value for your money, you can ask them to hold the bacon, freeze the burger then ship it to an eight-member Palestinian family as your contribution to its survival for a month.
