Quand on y pense…

Avanti ? Eh oui. Time waits for no one.

This isn’t the first time that I’ve wondered about the functioning of the “statistics” feature on wordpress, but…if I look up something myself as the administrator of my page, that counts as a “viewed” in the statistics? Weird, no? “Attempting to understand is the beginning of disobedience” one could read in the training manual for officers in the French army, at the end of the 1950s. Or at least, so I was told.

I dreamed someone was warning me to be cautious in what I would say to this person because she became offended easily, I answered that, this being the case, it was useless for me to be cautious since she would be offended in any case, and I explained my intention to seek for a cure using the sap from certain kinds of trees, including the dried out trunk of one that still stood, an unknown variety, the bark of which resembled the yellowish skin of a saurian from an antediluvian period.

“Attempting to understand is beginning to disobey”. Looks like I’ve been practicing the sin of disobedience for a very very long time. Well, so be it, yesterday my life in truly minor mode consisted of cleaning out the shelves in the kitchen, finishing the reading of Adam Tooze’s The Deluge, staying empty minded sitting in the garden, then starting up on a mission impossible concerning the ordering of the papers in my room/office. I keep coming across pocket notebooks, larger ones, jotted down sentences — “the sight of bats on the hunt just before daybreak”, “…Claude Duffy offered Ethel Garrett “shelter from the storms without (but not from the monsters within)”. Ethel didn’t know what to says…Why such an offer ?” dismayed, confused, befuddled”) or (illustration above) the union break of the bear that served as inspiration for Pyotr in Tales of Exile and a quote from Shakespeare’s Winter Tale.) Head like an old attick and notebooks bearing witness to the fact. With Jean-Philippe Rameau’s “Peaceful Forests” as background music playing in my head. When you think about it…

Avanti ? Of course. Time waits for no one.
