Dream : I had been admitted to a meeting of the Jewish Congress where I was seated with my middle sister at a small table behind a partition where I was drawing a kind of mandala while listening to songs in Yiddish including Mein Shayner Mädel which I started to sing, to my surprise, my sister started humming the melody along with me, when she had always hated that I start singing for no reason, the partition was part of a structure shaped like a labyrinth.
And the mandala resembled that drawing of trees forming a kind of knot, found in the papers at the bottom of the box I opened yesterday. Oddly enough, it also contained the demands formulated by the Assembly of the Gaillac Yellow Vests” dated January 9 2010 — fiscal justice, raise of the minimum wage to 1500€ monthly, indexation of pensions, law enforcement equipped with weapons “no more dangerous than those of our neighbors (Germany, Holland, United Kingdom…”) and others of the same ilk (some thirty, in all) none of which were honored, it goes without saying. The modesty of those hopes, in view of the realities…
In the box, I also found notebooks including the one covering the period from late August to mid-December 2016 when I handled so many situations that each “to do” on the daily list was surrounded by a different color, just to keep the stories straight — yellow, pink, green, orange. My own concerns surrounded by a blue line — the one around the 13 pages of my three days at Hôtel du Parc in Albi, unreachable by phone, observing people, taking notes, with no obligations of “results” for anyone whatsoever. One month later, back home, I had to call the gendarmes because of threats by a Russo-Armenian couple on the run with their two little girls and the grandmother dying of cancer with no access to morphine. “Basically, one of the gendarmes said to me “the more you peeled the onion, the more rotten it was”. A brutal image but close to the reality as far as this particular couple went; and since the police has more contact with rotten onions than with wholesome ones… This was the one and only time I had to deal with — how do you describe such desperados ? My biggest regret was in not being able to intervene and place the little ones in a safe environment. But this was also the days of sheltering two children whose parents were on the run, and who have become French citizens since.
I’m reading and re-resing Adam Tooze* explaining the banking system as it was when he wrote his book (in 2018), a system resting, in final analysis, on some thirty major banks and the schemes of which he writes that “the foundations of the modern monetary system are irreducibly political”. To that convention, we must now add two elements: the control exercises by multinationals, et crypto-currency hiding the real flowws of trillions diverted from so-called “national” economies.
2026 : Over here, masked and helmeted policemen gas and beat teenagers demanding better conditions for their education, elsewhere our brave leaders ask the Ukrainian president to be more “moderate” in his criticism of the human debris serving as president of the United States, while another human debris (Russian) goes on bombing civilians in Ukraine. As for Israel…And everywhere, political and business “leaders” are busy attempting to convince us that lies and truth are a matter of personal choice for the customer…who’s best to choose lies, if he cares about his noggin.
