C’est tellement énorme qu’on se dit “non, pas possible”, et pourtant, quand on dépend du bon vouloir d’un milliardaire… Durant une attaque de drones ukrainiens contre des vaisseaux de guerre russes, Monsieur Elon Musk aurait ordonné qu’on éteigne le satellite Starlink parce qu’il n’était pas d’accord avec cette décision de l’armée ukrainienne. Voici donc un pays en guerre contre un envahisseur, à la merci des décisions géo-politiques d’un homme d’affaire qui estime que la Russie ne doit pas être acculée à une “défaite stratégique” et pour qui son réseau ne devrait servir qu’à permettre aux gens “de se détendre en regardant Netflix, suivre des cours en ligne et faire des trucs sympas, pas des attaques de drones. “Starlink n’était pas destiné à la guerre., dit-il ” Sauf que le monde est en guerre et – surprise ! – Monsieur Musk s’y est immiscé. Pour que les Ukrainiens regardent Netflix sous occupation russe ??

Il est propriétaire de Starlink. Comprendre : le monde lui appartient. Et tout le monde trouve une telle interprétation de la propriété privée non seulement normale, mais fondamentale au déroulement des affaires sur la planète ?

Non, j’ajouterai tout de même que voici un homme, dont le “service” à l’Ukraine est rémunéré par le Pentagone – quoi qu’il en dise ouvertement. Il est donc un fournisseur officiel de l’armée américaine…et se permet de prendre position pour l’adversaire. Ça s’appelle comment ça, en langage clair et net ?

Et les réactions ? “Oui, c’est comm ça, notre sort est entre les mains des milliardaires, on n’y peut rien.” Donc, nous qui habitons en périphérie du chaos, nous nous y acheminons mais doucement, hein, sans heurts violents, les yeux fixés sur la dernière série de Netflix et espérant nous fondre sans douleur dans ce que nous avons décrété être inévitable…

So we have a country at war against an aggressor, in the hands of the geo-political decisions of a businessman who considers that Russia must not be inflicted a “strategic defeat” and for whom “Starlink was not meant to be involved in wars. It was so people can watch Netflix and chill and get online for school and do good peaceful things, not drone strikes.” Except the world is at awar and – surprise ! Mister Musk is on the frontlines. So Ukrainians will watch Netflix under Russian occupation ??

He owns Starlink. Ergo, the world belongs to him. And everyone considers such an interpretation of private property not only normal, but fundamental to the unfolding of affairs on the planet ?

No, I will add this, nonetheless: here is a man whose “services” to Ukraine are paid by the Pentagon – notwithstanding what he says publicly. He is thus an official service provider of the American army ..and allows himself to state a position favorable to the adversary. What is that called, in plain and simple language ?

And the reactions ? “Yes, that’s how it goes, our fate is in the hands of billionaires, there’s nothing we can do about it.” So we who live on the outskirts of chaos, are gently moving into it, with no violent discomforts, right, our eyes firmly set on the latest Netflix series, and hoping to melt painlessly into what we have decreed to be inevitable…
