Pour reprendre l’expression de l’historien Timothy Snyder, “la magie des anniversaires” se déployant partout aujourd’hui, anniversaire du lancement de l’invasion russe la plus récente sur l’Ukraine, le monde risque davantage une saturation qu’un manque d’information sur le sujet.

Aussi, depuis hier, un de mes carnets de note concernant l’actualité est-il davantage alimenté par l’inquiétude que je ressens à l’avancée du travail de sape sur les institutions centrales des Etats-Unis. Travail de sape auquel participe activement le président du congrès, Kevin McCarthy (Republican Party) en protégeant les menteurs avérés parmi ses collègues, comme une mère poule protégerait ses poussins. Avant-hier, il en a rajouté encore une couche en confirmant avoir remis copie de la totalité des enregistrements des caméras de surveillance du Capitole à nul autre que Tucker Carlson lequel, depuis la plateforme que lui offre Fox News, s’active à démontrer que l’attaque du 6 janvier sur le Capitole était une opération de ‘false flag’ lancée par les Démocrates dans le but de discréditer Donald Trump et ses adhérents fanatisés.

J’ai vécu quatre ans dans ce curieux pays; concours de circonstances plus qu’imprévu, j’ai aussi travaillé avec des représentants de ses forces armées en Israel, toute végétarienne convaincue que j’étais à l’époque. Je demeure abasourdie par le niveau de naïveté des Americains qui restent cois devant des comportements moralement inadmissibles, en l’absence d’une preuve juridique contraignante que ce comportement est criminel, juridiquement parlant. Ou qui se laissent convaincre que le second amendement à la constitution, voté en 1791 et autorisant le port d’armes sans restriction est tellement sacro-saint qu’il est intouchable en 2023 quand le port d’arme en question n’est plus d’un mousquet mais de fusils d’assaut et d’armes de poing.

Sans parler d’une interprétation de la “liberté d’expression” qui donne libre cours au déferlement d’horreurs inqualifiables pour ne pas “brimer les droits” des promoteurs de cultes dangereux et de contre-vérités pervertissant la signification des mots les plus essentiels pour des échanges intelligents. Le candidat non-déclaré encore des Républicains dans la course présidentielle étant le gouverneur de la Floride, Ron de Santis, qui se situe encore plus à l’extrême droite que Trump dont l’influence du verbiage commence à s’estomper, sauf pour ses adorateurs les plus crétinisés.

Moment de flottement, en matière d’écriture, dans l’attente d’un retour sur la nouvelle “Concours de circonstances” et toujours en état de perplexité par rapport à la poule avertie en valant deux dans le travail précédent.

Reason for which, since yesterday, my notebooks dealing with current events are fed mostly by my worries over the growing undermining of the United States’ central institutions. Undermining in which the President of Congress, Kevin McCarthy (Republican Party) is an active participant, protecting as he does averred liars among his colleagues, like a mother hen guarding its chicks. The day before yesterday, he added another layer of deceit by confirming he had given exclusive access to the totality of surveillance camera views done in the Capitol on January 6th to none other than Tucker Carlson who, from his platform at Fox News, is actively at work demonstrating that the January 6 attack on the Capitol was a false flag operation by the Democrats intent on discrediting Donald Trump and his fanatical supporters.

I lived in that odd country for four years; and in an unforeseen chain of events, I also worked with representatives of its armed forces in Israel, while practicing a strict vegetarian regime at the time. I remain astonished by the level of naiveté in Americans who remain quiet when faced with morally unacceptable behavior, if it lacks binding legal proof that it is criminal, judicially speaking. Or who remain convinced that the second amendment to their Constitution, an amendment voted in 1791 and stating that the bearing of arms cannot be tampered with, is sacred and untouchable in 2023 when the bearing of arms is no longer that of a musket but of assault rifles and hand guns.

This before mentioning an interpretation of “freedom of expression” allowing the spread of unspeakable horrors so as not to hinder the rights of promotors of dangerous cults and of lies that pervert the meaning of the most essential words required for intelligent exchanges. The still undeclared Republican candidate in the presidential campaign being Ron de Santis, the governor of Florida, who strays even further into the extreme right than does Trump the influence of whose verbiage is starting to pale, except for his most deeply cretinized adorers.
