Break –
An unsigned scrap of paper in the book Gringos in Mexico lent by my Spanish teacher reads: Until you surrender the need to know why things happened to you as they did you will hold on to your wounds with intense emotional fire.
The book itself contains short stories by Stephen Crane, Katherine Anne Porter, John Reed, Jack London and many others.
But what I will be reading next along with Sylvia Ashton-Warner’s Spinster I’m taking in in short spurts: Kurt Vonnegut’s Breakfast of Champions. Should provide a pleasant respite from the current cultural and political nonsense (nothing like former nonsense as a distraction from ongoing one).
(Have I given up on bilingual posts? No, but words are showing up in English only at the moment. The bilingual flow should resume soon enough.)
