Des éditoriaux, les uns après les autres, disant essentiellement que le mal, c’est pas bien, sans jamais préciser la nature du mal en question ni comment le combattre.

Au réveil, le première chose qui me revient : la déclaration gnan-gnan du Premier ministre britannique, Keith Starmer, au sujet de la centaine de milliers de manifestants des droites radicales, certains brandissant la photo du nouveau “martyr” des radicaux américains. Déclaration: “la violence n’a aucune place ici, notre nation est fondée sur des valeurs de tolérance.” Tu parles. La Grande Bretagne, ex-empire dont on pourrait gloser sur les violences, “fondée sur des valeurs de tolérance.” Et on s’étonne de la remontée du refoulé, partout, quand le gnan-gnan tient lieu de déclaration solennelle ?

Ou, comme l’écrit si bien le chroniqueur Jamelle Bouie dans The New York Times, quand les idées mêmes les plus violentes et méprisantes sont applaudies pour la “qualité de la prestation” de celui qui les exprime. C’est pas vraiment du sérieux, même si le type pense bien toutes ces horreurs qu’il dispense à la foule; non, c’est de la “liberté d’expression” (qui exige la suppression de la liberté d’expression, voire, de l’existence physique des autres), mais passons, il ne fait que s’exprimer, que de “faire son show”. Et le “show”, aux Etats-Unis, c’est primordial.

On geint, on se lamente, on se tord les mains, on se dit “ah mon dieu !” mais de vérités qui dérangent, il ne saurait être question. D’où viennent tous ces fonds de cale ? Comment les navires en sont-ils venus à en être aussi chargés ? Pourquoi les démentis ? Par qui ? Pourquoi ?

Au détour d’une conversation télévisée entre deux “amis-commentateurs” sur Fox News, l’un se plaint du nombre de SDF encombrant les grandes villes américaines, l’autre de répliquer “on n’a qu’à les tuer, une injection et puis, ça y est”. Au nom de la notion démentielle qu’il existerait une “race blanche” – leur “Dieu” a créé les autres “races” pour qu’ils puissent s’amuser à les chasser ?

Aujourd’hui au Commonwealth Club de San Franciso, le multimilliardaire Peter Thiel, mécène qui a imposé son protégé comme vice-président des Etats-Unis, prononcera la première de ses quatre conférences sur l’Antéchrist. Parmi les grands penseurs nourrissant ses réflexions : René Girard, pour sa théorie du mimétisme, et Carl Schmitt, qui fut le juriste officiel du 3e Reich.

Pendant que nos aimables dirigeants prennent la pose, le temps d’une photo et d’une déclaration, avant de retourner à quelques fricotages dans les coulisses.

Et que leurs “valeurs de tolérance”, interdisent les manifestations pacifiques, à coup d’arrestations et de canons à eau. Ce que donneront les manifs du 18, je ne saurais dire; j’espère qu’il n’y aura ni oeil, ni main arrachée chez les manifestants, je sais que même la pharmacie locale sera du mouvement, pendant que la Russie s’amuse à tester le sérieux des “valeurs fondamentales de l’Occident”.

“Et si la solution c’était NOUS ?” disent les messages ? Chose certaine, le NOUS en question est difficile à distinguer dans la confusion .

Editorials, one after the other, all basically saying that evil is not nice, without ever specifying the nature of the evil in question, nor how to fight it.

Upon waking, the first thing that comes back to mind is Keith Starmer, Great Britain’s Prime Minister, and his mealy-mouthed declaration after some hundred thousand demonstrators of the radical rights took to the streets, some of them brandishing the image of the American extreme-right’s latest “martyr”. Declaration: “violence has no room here, our nation is founded on values of tolerance.” You bet. Great-Britain, former empire about which one could go on about the violences, “founded on values of tolerance;” And we are surprised by the rise of the repressed, everywhere, when this kind of sappy sweet gurgling is considered a solemn declaration?

Or as The New York Times‘ columnist Jamelle Bouie expressed it so well, when even the most violent and contemptuous ideas are cheered for the “quality of the performance” by the one expressing them. It’s not really to be taken seriously, even if the guy truly thinks all these horrors he’s spewing out to the crowd; no, it’s “freedom of expression” (which so happens to call for the suppression of the other’s freedom of expression or even, his or her physical existence,) but he’s just “expressing himself”, giving “a show”. And in the States, the “show” is the thing.

We moan, we lament, we wring our hands , we say “oh my god!” but speaking hard truths is out of the question. Where did all this bilge come from ? How did the ships get this loaded down with it ? Why the cover-ups ? By whom ? Why ?

During a televised conversation between two “friendly commentators” on Fox News, one complains to the other about the number of homeless people crowding the streets in the large American cities, the other answers “we just need to kill them off, an injection and that’s it”. In the name of the demented notion that there exists a “white race” – their “God” created the other “races” so they would take their un in chasing them down ?

Today at the Commonwealth Club in San Franciso, billionnaire Peter Thiel, patron who imposed his protégé as vice-president of the United States, will be giving the first of his four lectures on The Antichrist . Among the great thinkers feeding his reflections: René Girard, for his theory on mimetism, and Carl Schmitt, the man who was the Third Reich’s official legal expert.

While our cuddly leaders stand for the photo op and the declaration prior to returning to their back-room dealings.

And that their “values of tolerance” forbid the holding of peaceful demonstrations, dispersing them with arrests and water canons. What the results will be of the general strike on the 18th, I have no idea, I hope no eyes or hands will be lost in the process, all I know for the time being is that even my local pharmacy will be part of the general shut-down, while Russia amuses itself in testing “fundamental Western values”.

“What if WE were the solution ?” the flyers say. The WE in question is pretty hard to identify in the din, that much is clear.
