Le leader du mouvement collaborationniste écrivait un éditorial disant que la résistance était contre-productive, un tel manque total de temps et d’énergie, je le lisais avec l’impression de lire un document historique, quelque chose à la dureté du fer et pourtant, sans substance; puis il y avait un lac qu’on nous disait tellement pollué que la baignade y était interdite, on avait érigé des barricades pour en bloquer l’accès, pourtant il y avait une brèche à travers laquelle le fils du roi, lui, pouvait y accéder, on le voyait nager, quelqu’un disait “il faudrait un tsunami pour le noyer”, mais un tsunami, ça ne se crée pas juste parce qu’on le dit.

Parmi les dernières choses lues hier soir :

“Dans une semaine où les Démocrates de la Capitale ont gaspillé leur temps en débats futiles à savoir si , oui ou non, ils avaient utilisé les mots “insécurité alimentaire” trop souvent, et se félicitant l’un l’autre pour avoir décrit l’occupation de Washington comme un “canular” ou une “distraction”, entendre un homme politique Démocrate parler franchement avait un effet agréablement stimulant” (Un commentaire dans The New Republic concernant le gouverneur démocrate de l’Illinois, JB Pritzker, disant “aux officiels de l’administration Trump, aux fonctionnaires qui ont trahi leur serment à la constitution afin de servir les caprices insignifiants d’un petit homme arrogant, à tout officier fédéral qui viendrait à Chicago et tenterait d’inciter mes gens à la violence en guise de prétexte pour quelque chose de plus sombre et de plus dangereux: nous vous avons à l’oeil et nous notons vos noms.”

Et puis, dans la dernière du recueil de science-fonction contemporaine, Nos Futurs Solidaires, cette phrase dans la nouvelle Six faces d’un même cube : “Diamond s’est retirée du monde pour ne pas devoir prendre en compte les émotions de ses semblables.” Pensée en direction de ma fille et des milliers d’autres pour qui la relation avec “leur” IA évacue tous les désagréments d’une relation avec un autre véritable. “Leur” IA, des Pif-gadgets engloutissant des centaines de milliards de dollars qui ne sont plus disponibles pour les services publics, comme c’est curieux.

Quant à ce que nous réserve le prochain psychodrame du vote de confiance ici, le 8 septembre, concernant le Premier ministre et ce qui tient lieu de gouvernement ces jours-ci…Et l’UE qui plie devant les menaces américaines, reculant sur ses propres décisions de réglementer les fournisseurs de services numériques…

Pendant qu’ici, nous réfléchissons au contenu éventuel d’une Fête des possibles locale pour octobre et, dans certains cas, poursuivons le tracé de nos propres sentiers à travers les broussailles parce que c’est ainsi que va la vie.

Illustration: “Krazy Kat” était une création du dessinateur de “comics” George Herriman lequel, de 1913 jusqu’à sa mort en 1944 dessina les aventures inénarrables d’un chatte (qui était peut-être un chat) amoureux de Ignaz Mouse, souris marié et père de famille nombreuse, qui lui lançait constamment une brique, que le Kat prenait pour un témoignage de son amour. Dans cet épisode, le “roi” se révélera être nul autre qu’Ignaz qui lui lance sa brique inévitable.

The leader of the collaborationist movement wrote an op-ed saying that resistance was counter-productive, such a total waste of time and energy, I was reading it with the feeling of reading a historical document, something both as hard as iron and yet, unsubstantial; then, there was a lake we were told was so polluted that swimming was forbiden in it, barricades had been set up to block access to it, yet, in an opening the king’s son could reach it and we could see him swimming, someone said “we’d need a tsunami to drown him”, but you don’t create a tsunami just by talking about it.

“In a week where Beltway Democrats passed their time pointlessly debating whether or not they were using words like “food insecurity” too much, and congratulating each other for calling the D.C. occupation a “stunt” or a “distraction,” hearing a Democratic politician speak in plain English is pleasingly bracing.” (A New Republic commentary about JB Pritzker, Illinois’ Democratic governor telling “the Trump administration officials, to the public servants who have forsaken their oath to the Constitution to serve the petty whims of an arrogant little man, to any federal official who would come to Chicago and try to incite my people into violence as a pretext for something darker and more dangerous: We are watching and we are taking names.”

And also, in the final short story in the collection of contemporary sci-fi stories, Nos Futurs Solidaires (Our Futures in Solidarity), this sentence in the short story titled Six faces of a same cube: “Diamond had retired from the world so as not to have to deal with the emotions of her peers.” Just as is the case for my daughter and thousands of others for whom a relationship with “their” AI removes all the disagreements of a relationship with a real other. Pez dispensers gobbling hundreds of billions of dollars that are no longer available for public services, how odd.

As to what is in store for us over here in the next psychodrama of a vote of confidence on September 8th, concerning the Prime minister and what passes for a government, these days…And the EU bending under the American threats, backing off its own decisions to regulate digital service providers…

While over here, locally, we think about the possible contents of a Celebration of Possibilities in October and, in some cases, go on tracing our own footpaths through the thickets simply because that’s the way life does.

Illustration: “Krazy Kat” was the work of George Herriman who, from 1913 until his death in 1944 drew the indescribable adventures of a female cat (who might have been a male), crazy in love with Ignaz Mouse, a married mouse father of a large family who constantly threw a brick at the Kat, which the latter took to be a token of his love. In this episode, the “king” will turn out to be none other than Ignaz who will pull his usual trick on the Kat.
