L’horreur réelle des événements en Israël, à Gaza, en Ukraine dépasse déjà tout ce qu’on peut imaginer. Ça n’empêche nullement les amoureux de l’horreur d’en rajouter. Dans sa chronique fustigeant la gestion d’Elon Musk de l’ex-Twitter, désormais X, la Britannique Marina Hyde de The Guardian mentionne des exemples d’exploitation obscène et non contrôlée sur ce réseau, notamment : des feux d’artifice en Algérie présentés comme une attaque de Hamas; une vidéo d’un jeu comme d’une autre supposée “attaque de Hamas; d’anciennes vidéos du conflit syrien, présentées comme des attaques contre l’aéroport de Tel Aviv; et ainsi de suite.

La prudence s’impose pour ne pas ajouter à la surenchère; raison pour laquelle je tente d’éviter la diffusion d’images dont la source n’est pas confirmée (et ne partage pas nécessairement toutes les images authentiques non plus; comme pour tout, le trop-plein provoque la satiété qui ne sert en rien le soutien à ceux qui en ont besoin.

Réveillée encore une fois sur les 4 heures du matin, l’essentiel de ce que je pense et ressens de la situation se trouve, et dans la chronique du jour d’André Markowicz sur Facebook, et dans mon très (top)long commentaire qui se lit comme suit :

“Aussi monstrueux que cela paraisse, je crois que votre analyse est juste. De ces 2 millions 300 cent mille habitants sur cette bande qu’on appelle Gaza, près de la moitié ont moins de 18 ans. Qu’auront-ils appris déjà et qu’apprendront-ils encore dans la catastrophe sans nom qui se déroule ? La haine, la détestation, la soif de vengeance, le sans-limite dans son exécution; la barbarie, en somme, laquelle est bel et bien présente dans l’humain. Le hasard fait que je retombe en ce moment sur des paroles de Ben Gourion qui se disait profondément convaincu du rôle historique de ce qu’il appelait indifféremment la ‘race’ ou la ‘nation’ juive en tant que “lumière pour les nations”. Bien que, selon moi, une partie du problème de l’identité réside justement dans cette notion de ‘race’, pour ce qui est d’une quelconque vocation morale d’Israël, elle ne saurait être plus bafouée que par la bande dont s’est entouré Netanyahou, bande pour laquelle les crimes impardonnables perpétrés par Hamas servent de prétexte idéal pour l’atteinte de leur objectif du “Grand Israël” supposément promis par Dieu à Abraham.Comme le dit si justement Charles Enderlin dans “Israël, l’agonie d’une démocratie”, ce messianisme autorise aussi bien la lutte contre les gauchistes (ici, le terme s’applique) en Israël que la lutte, non seulement contre les organes terroristes comme Hamas ou Hezbollah, mais contre les Palestiniens dans leur ensemble, occupant une terre qu’ils se réclament comme leur appartenant de droit sacré. Partout et de tout temps, le droit sacré a beau jeu dans la justification de l’injustice. J’en ai mal, profondément, pour les survivants de l’Holocauste et leurs descendants qui ont cru trouver le havre à partir duquel vivre dans une paix relative, sans même aspirer au rêve inatteignable, et à jamais perverti, de phare pour “la rédemption universelle, le règne de la justice et de la fraternité humaine, le triomphe sur le mal” qui nourrissait la vision de Ben Gourion. Ils meurent massacrés, eux aussi, leur mort instrumentalisée par des intégristes fascistes, il n’y a pas d’autre mot pour les décrire.”

The true horror of events in Israel, Gaza, Ukraine is already beyond anything we can imagine. This does not stop in any way lovers of horror to double down on it. In her column castigating Elon Musk’s management of the ex-Twitter, now X, she mentions some instances of obscene exploitation shared on that platform, to whit: Algerian fireworks presented as a Hamas attack; a video from a game, also an alleged Hamas attack; old videos from the Syrian conflict presented as attacks against the Tel Aviv airport; and so on.

Caution should be the rule so as not to add to this one-upmanship; this being the reason why I attempt to avoid sharing images from unconfirmed sources (and don’t necessarily share all the authentic images either; as with everything, a surfeit leads to satiation which does nothing to assist those in need.

Awake once again at 4 AM, essentially what I think and feel on the situation can be found both in today’s column by André Markowicz on Facebook, and in my long (too long) comment that reads as follows:

“As monstrous as it may seem, I believe your analysis is correct. Of these 2 million 300 thousand inhabitants in that narrow strip of land known as Gaza, nearly half are less than 18 years old. What will they have learned and what more will they learn from this nameless ongoing catastrophe? Hatred, loathing, a thirst for revenge, a no-limit approach to its execution; barbarity, in short, which is truly present in humans. Circumstances are such that I’ve come across words by Ben Gurion who was deeply convinced of the historical role devolved on those he identified indifferently as the Jewish “race” or “nation” in its role as “a light unto the nations”. Although, in my opinion, part of the problem resides precisely in this notion of identity as a “race”, as for any kind of moral calling on Israel, it could not be more trampled than by the bunch surrounding Netanyahu, a bunch for whom the unforgivable crimes perpetrated by Hamas only serve as the ideal excuse to reach their objective of the “Great Israel” supposedly promised by God to Abraham. As Charles Enderlin says so aptly in “Israel, the agony of a democracy” this messianism has allowed for the fight against Leftists (aptly identified as such in this case) in Israel as well as the fight, not only against terrorist organizations such as Hamas or Hezbollah, but against Palestinians as a whole, occupying a land they claim as belonging to them by sacred right. Everywhere and at all times, sacred right has served as the ideal justification for injustice. I am deeply pained for the survivors of the Holocaust and their descendants who thought they had found a haven in which to live in relative peace, without ever aspiring to the unattainable, and now perverted, dream of “universal redemption, the reign of justice and human brotherhood, the triumph over evil” that fed Ben Gurion’s vision. They have died, massacred as well, with their death instrumentalized by fascist integrists, there is no other word to describe them.”
