La laitue illustrée ci-haut constitue le haut fait du vendredi, 12 mai, journée dévolue surtout à la somnolence, à la toux et à la nausée, lorsqu’à 15h54, un jeune activiste du mouvement des agriculteurs bio a toqué à ma porte et m’a donné cette magnifique laitue, produit d’une séance d’éclaircissage du potager. Je le remercie, la photographie, la met en ligne. Et me prépare une tisane (verveine) après tant d’efforts. Je fais grâce au visiteur éventuel sur ce blog des autres événements trépidants de cette journée. Celle d’aujourd’hui risque fort de lui ressembler.

Ah si, tout de même: la chatoune a eu son moment Euréka! comparable, à son échelle, à celui d’Archimède, après que je l’aie attirée vers le bac de litière en y promenant négligemment un bâton. Intriguée, elle est venue explorer, a pris plaisir à y gratouiller et…yes! le déclenchement espéré s’est produit. (Par contre, comme gratouiller sur du papier a le même effet pour elle et que le papier, chez-moi = livres, revues, journaux, cahiers, carnets, manuscrits et j’en passe…le dernier Canard Enchaîné a eu droit au même traitement.)

Comme vigilance et somnolence ne vont pas de pair…histoire à suivre, de toute évidence.

The lettuce shown above represents the highlight on Friday, May 12th, a day devoted mainly to sleepiness, coughing and nausea, when at 3:54 PM, a young activist from the organic food movement knocked on my door and gave me this magnificent result from a session of culling in his vegetable patch. I thanked him, took a photo, uploaded it. And prepared a herbal tea (verbena) after such an expenditure of energy. I spare an eventual visitor to this blog the narration of the rest of the day’s exciting events. Today will probably turn into a facsimile.

Ah yes, except for this: kitty had her Eureka! moment, comparable on her scale to that of Archimedes, after I lured her to the kitty litter by casually moving a stick about in it. The movement intrigued her, she came over to explore and discovered the fun of scratching about and…yes ! the hoped-for effect was triggered. However, as scratching on paper has the same result for her and since in my place, paper = books, magazines, newspapers, notebooks, manuscripts and more…the latest Canard Enchaîné received the same treatment.

As vigilance and sleepiness don’t go well together… a story to be continued, no doubt about it.
