Il y a trois jours de cela, le comité éditorial du New York Times publiait son opinion concernant la situation en Ukraine. Dans mes notes personnelles, je le qualifiais de “wiggle wiggle” – un paragraphe affirmant que l’Ukraine se devait de gagner. Suivi d’un autre appelant aux négociations… Bref, le genre de oui absolument, mais, d’autre part… à donner le torticolis.

The Kyiv Independent y répond aujourd’hui, en invitant le comité éditorial du New York Times à lire son propre journal et, notamment, les articles de Timothy Snyder concernant l’idéologie fasciste que le Kremlin applique à la société russe elle-même.

Dans Le Monde, la nouvelle première ministre, Elisabeth Borne, se fait forte “de ne jamais mentir aux Français”… au sujet de la nécessité de modifier les régimes de retraite, s’entend. Nous vivons plus longtemps, eh oui, madame, mais là n’est pas le problème. Le problème réside dans les choix imposés par un gouvernement qui consent des avantages fiscaux exorbitants à ceux qui s’enrichissent sur le dos des autres. Alors, pour ce qui est de la vérité pleine et entière, personne a intérêt à retenir son souffle.

Three days days ago, The New York Times’ editorial board published its opinion concerning the situation in Ukraine. In my personal notes, I qualified this position of a wiggle wiggle – one paragraph to say Ukraine must win. Followed by another stressing the. need for negotiations. In short, the kind of yes, absolutely, but on the other hand… leading to a stiff and useless neck.

The Kyiv Independent responds today with an invitation to The New York Times’ editorial board to read its own newspaper and, notably the article by Timothy Snyder concerning the fascist ideology the Kremlin applies to Russian society as well.

In Le Monde, France’s new Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, promises never to lie to French people…meaning about the need to modify the pension plans. We live longer, how true, Madame, but that’s not the problem. The problem dwells in the choices imposed by a government that provides exorbitant fiscal privileges to those enriching themselves on the backs of others. So, as far as the truth and all of it, no one should hold their breath.
