Hier, c’était journée porte-ouverte dans de nombreux ateliers d’artistes en Occitanie. Sur ma rue, le photographe Pierre Assémat présentait les vitraux de Nicole Teullière et ses plus récentes photos dans la série des “masques”… Dès qu’il en tirera des cartes postales, les amis peuvent s’attendre à recevoir l’une ou l’autre de la série…

Sur les photos de presse, je remarque que le “geste chic” pour l’homme d’affaire contemporain consiste à poser les deux mains au niveau du bouton de la veste, comme s’il s’apprêtait soit à le déboutonner, ou le contraire. Un geste ‘actif’, en somme, et qui lui donne quelque chose à faire de ses mains sans déformer la ligne du costume avec le geste ‘paresseux’ du fainéant, les mains dans les poches.

Je termine la lecture des sagas islandaises, bien contente du fait que les islandais ne considèrent plus que l’âge d’homme débute à …douze ans et que ses qualités essentielles consiste à massacrer, piller et/ou flamber ses adversaires dans leur demeure. (Les ‘pucelles’ – à condition d’être belles et désirables pour leurs avoirs en terres et autres possessions – pouvaient être soit des trésors de patience et de vertu ou des sorcières/magiciennes redoutables.)

Bref, les ancêtres des personnages dans les jeux vidéo contemporains.

(Le phénomène des métamorphose humain/animal représentant l’aspect le plus intéressant des contes, à mon avis. Mais ça sera pour un autre jour.)

Yesterday was open house in many artists’ workshops in Occitanie. On my street, photographer Pierre Assémat presented Nicole Teullière’s stained glass and his own most recent photos in the “Masks” series. (The old woman seen above is saying: “Register the ass air code – in French the letter Q sounds like cul – ass) Ass air code? Ah, the QR code. If I don’t manage to do it, they’ll be sending me to the Ipad (meaning EHPAD – homes for old people).

As soon as he makes a run of postcards out of them, friends may expect to receive one or the other in the series…

On press photos, I notice that the “chic gesture” for businessmen these days shows them with both hands at the level of the button on their vest, as if making ready to unbutton it, or the opposite. An ‘active’ movement, in other words, that gives them something to do with their hands and one that doesn’t risk pulling the suit out of shape as would the ‘lazy’ bum gesture of sticking their hands into their pockets.

I’m ending the reading of the Icelandic sagas, most pleased by the fact Icelanders no longer consider that manhood begins at …twelve, and that the essential manly features consist in massacre, pillaging and/or burning your opponents inside their home. (The ‘maidens’ – as long as they were beautiful and desirable for their lands and other possessions – had the choice of being either treasure troves of patience and virtue or formidable witches/magicians.)

In other words, perfect ancestors to characters in current video games.

(The shapeshifting man/animal phenomenon being the most interesting aspect of the tales, in my opinion. But that will be for another day.)
