l’irrationnel est roi ? Pas du tout, pas du tout. À preuve (parmi d’autres): Un certain monsieur Murdoch. S’étant construit un empire de presse, il est l’heureux propriétaire, entre autres, du réseau de télévision américaine Fox News et du journal-culte du milieu des affaires, The Wall Street Journal. Suite au saccage sur le Capitole et aux décès qui s’en sont suivis sous les bons conseils du président sortant, The Wall Street Journal de Monsieur Murdoch condamne vigoureusement Monsieur Trump et appelle à son “impeachment” à treize jours de la fin de son mandat. Pendant ce temps, le réseau Fox News de Monsieur Murdoch, tout en déplorant la violence, s’interroge à savoir qui en est véritablement responsable, les milieux complotistes affirmant déjà que d’affreux gauchistes se sont déguisés en fidèles trumpistes (trumpiens?) pour discréditer leur héros bienaimé. Comme le veut l’expression québécoise: on n’est pas encore sorti du bois. Mais pendant ce temps, des gros malins comme monsieur Murdoch s’en mettent plein les poches pendant que les “petits” se tapent mutuellement sur la tronche.

L’absurdité n’étant pas une prérogative territoriale, dans un autre ordre d’idée, le journal Le Monde m’apprend ce matin que “Les Français sont invités à réduire leur consommation d’électricité vendredi en raison du froid.” Logique imparable, accompagné de l’estimation de la Fondation de l’Abbé Pierre publiée dans Médiapart selon laquelle 300 000 personnes seraient présentement à la rue sur l’ensemble du territoire. Alors, je veux bien porter chaussettes et pull chez moi malgré le ridicule de l’injonction appelant à réduire le chauffage en raison du froid, mais… les véritables priorités ne seraient-elles pas ailleurs?

Irrationality rules? Not at all, not all. Proof (among others): a certain Mister Murdoch. Having built himself a media empire he is the happy owner of, among others, the American Fox News network and the publication with a cult-like following among business types, The Wall Street Journal. Following the rampage at the Capitol and the deaths that ensued, following the timely advice of the departing President, Mister Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal vigorously condemned Mister Trump and called for his impeachment, thirteen days before the end of his mandate. At the same time, Mister Murdoch’s Fox News, while bemoaning the violence, wondered who exactly was responsible, since the conspirationists are already claiming that horrible Leftists disguised themselves as faithful Trumpists (Trumpians?) in order to discredit their beloved hero. As the Québécois saying goes: we’re not out of the woods yet. In the meantime, fat cats like Mister Murdoch are lining their pockets while the “little folk” bonk one another over the head.

Absurdity not being a territorial prerogative, in another chain of thought, the newspaper Le Monde tells me this morning that “the French are invited to reduce their use of electric power due to the cold spell”. Unanswerable logic, accompanied by the estimate done by the Fondation de l’Abbé Pierre and published on Médiapart according to which some 300 000 people are currently living in the streets across the territory. So, I’m quite willing to wear socks and a pullover at home despite the ridiculous injunction to readuce the heating because of the cold but… is this truly where priorities lie at the moment?
