Structure –

Dans le récit, la narratrice a l’avantage d’une très grande table de travail sur laquelle étaler les éléments composant l’histoire. Rien de tel chez moi où je viens de passer une journée à ré-organiser mon espace d’écriture en fonction de “l’architecture” qui se précise.

C’est un processus assez curieux, un peu comme de faire une mayonnaise. Une goutte d’huile, puis un petit filet, puis un autre, fouettés avec le jaune d’oeuf et vient un moment où la structure prend forme. La partie n’est pas gagnée pour autant (peu s’en faut!) mais les différentes parties du récit commencent à se lier entre elles. Vous avez une structure. Le défi étant dorénavant d’en faire “la demeure d’une grande force” comme a dit le rêve à l’un des personnage. Sa grand-mère lui a-t-elle raconté des “skazky” (contes) russes? Sans aucun doute.

 

Structure –

In the tale, the narrator has the advantage of a large work table on which she can spread out the elements making up the story. There’s nothing of the sort here where I spent a day re-organizing my writing space to account for the tale’s “architecture” as it becomes clearer.

It’s an odd process, a bit like making a mayonnaise. One drop of oil, then a small stream, then another on an egg yolk ,and comes a moment when the structure takes shape. The game isn’t won for all that (far from it!) but the different parts of the tale begin to coalesce. You have a structure. The challenge now being to make of it “the home of a great strength”, as the dream told one of the characters. Did her grandmother tell her ‘skazkys” (Russian tales)? Undoubtedly.
