L’agente immobilière tourne la clé dans la serrure et ouvre la porte. Je fais un pas et l’odeur m’assaille. L’odeur de la misère. Une odeur qui persiste dans les murs et qu’aucun produit nettoyant ne peut éliminer. À la fois aigre et sûre, avec relents de violences, ineffaçables.

Inutile d’aller plus loin. “Vous n’avez rien d’autre à me proposer?”

– Pour l’instant, non. Je suis désolée.

Quand les voix se taisent –

Dans les informations : Cynisme et arrogance. Le sentiment d’impunité des “chefs”.

The real estate agent turns the key in the lock and opens the door. One step inside and the smell assaills me. The smell of misery. A smell that persists in the walls and that no cleanser can eliminate. Both sharp and sour, with traces of violence, impossible to erase.

No point in going further. “You have nothing else to show me?”

– Not at the moment, no. I’m sorry.

When voices go silent –  

In the news: Cynicism and arrogance. The “bosses”’ sense of impunity.

But for this to be possible there must remain some – men, I mean, and women and children, free to express other things besides advertising slogans.
