Rise and shine

The Guardian posted one of the first bits of news to reach me from the outside world this morning.  Something calling itself “Trump Headquarters” has launched a petition calling on Americans to support their President against…well, against the Judicial system of their country – the constitution of which said President has sworn to uphold. The American Constitution says a few things about the separate purviews of the three branches of government, “stuff” about checks and balances and…

Well, never mind. Before making it upstairs to the formal part of awake-and-about, I lay in bed pondering vast and unanswerable questions about the nature of reality. Reality doesn’t seem about to reveal its mysteries but I do wonder if we don’t make more sense as a species when we’re asleep rather than awake. At least, we’re harmless then, and even the weirdest dreams have nothing on what awaits once the curtain rises on Another Day on Earth.

Before the metaphorical curtain rose, my room was a study in shades of white. A few ghosts lingered. We chatted. They never answer  – I’ve never encountered a single one who did. I call it chatting anyway. Crazy? No doubt.

Rise and shine.
