One Time

One time will come that rings the dawn out of the night it’s been too long

One time in life love comes along it’s really to end very strong

One time will bring friends to a man who sings all alone in his one-man band

one time in life right comes along for the man who’s always been wrong

One time a smile comes to a man because not only frowns are his due

but it’s hard to feel that the wheel will turn when the wheel is turned against you

One time in life a man must be whatever he wishes to be

and all men must see that one time’s too much to tell any man that he’s not free

Elaine Brown

Dealing with someone’s anger today. An anger bottled up for way too long. It comes out in hurtful spurts. The best I can do is know what my words mean, no matter how they sound to someone else. Perhaps we can then move on to the parts when the love ends “very strong”.

In the meantime, I’ll go on doing what I do and saying what I say. We all have wounds to heal and better, much better places to share. For me, today, Elaine Brown’s words resonate both at the personal and the collective level – two aspects of living I attempt to bridge as best I can. Sometimes, maybe a huge guffaw might be the best of all ways to move on, move on, move on.
