You think you have problems?

Days when you have to wonder. When you say to someone: “Of course I realize you’d built that little extension back there for other purposes. I understand how disruptive it is, having people stay in your almost-private space” (we’re not talking here of actually sharing a house, let alone a room, we’re talking of a separate living space on the same grounds).

Of course. Except…what disruption are we talking about, exactly? We’re talking about the minutiae of lives lived as if a special deal existed between the universe and this person. The special deal specified no additional problems would show up in his/her life, ever. And here’s life throwing in unexpected  stuff (excuse me, people) and they’re screwing up the special deal.

Meanwhile, I come back from a nitty-gritty meeting with folks who have real problems now, and the promise of even bigger ones soon. I find them easier to get along with than the settled-in. At least, they know the universe has other things to do than to sign special deals with anybody.

Apart from which, the group sang this morning. Singing helps. Music helps, period.
